About Us

Mike Smith followed his father into the piano business. As a result, he has been around pianos since he was a teenager and has been involved in everything piano related since that time. At the age of 17, he joined the Essex County Council Supplies and Transport Department in their piano section. He trained at the London College of Furniture and passed his City & Guilds qualifications. Subsequently, he joined the Pianoforte Tuners’ Association and has now been running his own business along with his wife for the past 40 years. He is also an associate member of the institute of musical instrument technology.

He will always provide high-quality piano tuning and repairs to both private individuals and organisations, such as schools, concert halls and theatres. Whether you require one-off or regular piano tuning, he can help. We serve customers around Essex and Suffolk.

Due to the nature of pianos and their tuning, an appointment time must be regarded as approximate. Mike treats each piano individually and as a result some may require more time than others. We do require a minimum of 24 hours for cancellation or rescheduling an appointment. We give all our clients a reminder call or text 48 hours before the appointment. We also make a nominal charge for a late cancellation or missed appointment in order to recover our costs.
